I recently came across the domain name Khamoosh.com, which means “silent” or “quiet” in Persian. The name resonated with me—I found it intriguing and thought it had a certain charm. Without much thought about its resale potential, I decided to buy it from GoDaddy’s closeout auction for just $10.
Honestly, I didn’t expect anything to come of it. I just liked the name and figured it might be nice to own. But to my astonishment, within just two weeks, someone purchased it from me for $2,499! I was shocked. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that it would sell for more than $2,000.
I had priced it at $2,499, ending with the “99” like you often see in supermarkets. I’m not exactly sure why I chose that pricing tactic—it just seemed like a good idea at the time. Apparently, it worked!
This experience taught me that sometimes taking a chance on something you simply like can lead to unexpected rewards. It also got me thinking about the effectiveness of pricing strategies, even ones as simple as ending a price with “99.”
Who knows? Maybe I’ll stumble upon another hidden gem in the domain world. For now, I’m just thrilled about the surprising sale of Khamoosh.com.
